Who We Are
Company History
In October of 1984, MLP Steel Company purchased Fayette Steel Company and its wholly owned subsidiaries, Laurel Steel Products Company and Fayette Steel Land Company. Fayette Steel Land Company, prior to the acquisition by Marwas in 1984 operated two companies, namely Fayette Steel Company and Pryce Machine and Manufacturing which operated under the trade name Wiredyne. After the acquisition, Marwas operated with three separate divisions.
Fayette Steel Company started in 1967 as a steel wire mill utilizing hot rolled rod to produce a wide range of various size sections including rounds, flats, hexagons, squares and other special shapes in both coil and straight lengths.
Laurel Steel Products Company started in October of 1981 to manufacture various types of grating, including walkway grating, roadway grating, inlet grating and miscellaneous types of steel grating.
In 1982, Fayette Steel Company acquired Pryce Machine and Manufacturing and renamed the company Wiredyne. Wiredyne produced various fabricated wire products for consumer and industrial applications. In 1991, Wiredyne's assets were absorbed into the Fayette Steel Company.
Over the years, the companies have grown in size and in capabilities. We look forward to meeting the challenges that lay ahead by continuing to provide Customers what they want, when they want it.
